X FACTOR hopeful Kitty Brucknell has rejected calls for her to quit the ITV show.
Kitty's mother Mary Edwards said she had considered pulling her daughter out.
"Kitty is being turned into a pantomime villain," she told the Sunday Mirror.
The 26-year-old, from Cheltenham, made it through to the first stage of boot camp, impressing judges with a performance of Florence and the Machine's You've Got the Love.
But the former Dean Close Junior School pupil, whose real name is Kimberley Edwards,26, has divided opinion after becoming embroiled in a series of rows with contestants.
She has rejected tabloid coverage branding her as a hate figure among other X Factor hopefuls as "unhelpful".
Speaking to the Echo she said: “I was really pleased with how it came across. Being on the programme is great.
“So many people have been in touch to wish me luck.”
She laughed off reports in some newspapers which have labelled her a hate figure, after fallouts with other contestants.
