With the price of fuel at record levels, can anyone suggest ideas to force the price down.  The common reason we keep being given is that it's all about the price of the oil, this is rubbish, as there is huge amount of tax generated from fuel. 

Rumour has it that when VAT went down to 15% they added the 2.5% onto fuel, and have not taken that off fuel since VAT went back up.

I completely understand the need for taxing fuel, but do not like being ripped off...

Does anyone have any valuable ideas to force the issue? - people power is what we need... if we keep accepting it like they will continue to hike the prices...
